My loneliness and me

We have been everywhere

My loneliness and me

We have been to the bars

We have been to the sea

My loneliness and me I have also had some friends

Thought the friendships would never end

But always did the friendships end

But she was always there with me

My Loneliness and me  And in the night when I am alone

Trying to swallow my pain and moans,

Remembering the days long long gone

She is always there for me

My loneliness and me.

And although I write these poems

And sadness may sit in my rhyme

I am not looking for a saviour

Nor do I want to be free

It's okay if it's just-

My loneliness and me Kashif Nasir

Broken man by Kashif Nasir

Broken man
Kashif Nasir

I have no fancy gifts to give,

nor good words to say,

I have no good memories,

nor thoughts that are gay,

I am a broken man that's all I have to say

Neither morning nor at night,

I see no peace in sight

And it's getting lonelier day by day,

I am a broken man that's all I have to say

Neither verse nor prose

Neither women nor rose

Nothing lights up my day

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

You may see me in the room

Sitting darkly in the gloom

fighting demons, keeping them at the bay

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

Neither my tears nor my voice

Nothing ever reaches the skies

If there is a god why is he so far away

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

Neither my friends nor my foes

No one ever hears my woes

No one comes, and no one stays

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

My loneliness has reached its peak

Everything is looking bleak

I have very little left to say

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

Every time I look around

I see broken men all around

They all laugh, but inside they are rotting away

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

I am still not done

I still have to write

Tell them that things will be alright

But I know there won’t be such a day

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

My words have gone into my head

Twisting turning in bed

Saying things I never said

Out of this hell, I see no way

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

Oh God if you are there

Why you don’t ever hear

Why don’t you come down

and fix this mortal of clay

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

I am still angry

I am still loud

I am about to burst

Like an angry cloud

My righteous rage, will everything wash away

I am a broken man that’s all I have to say

I will be angry forever more

Writing verses more and more

Of every injury keeping score

And one day I will make them pay

I am an angry man that’s all I have to say

My Sorrows by Kashif Nasir

'My sorrows'

I write to pass the night

To save myself from fright

And I hope I don't see

The sorrows around me

I can see, one behind the door

One, sitting on the floor

One, staring from the screen

Oh One, that is filthy and lean

The sorrows all have come

To turn my night glum

I write to keep them at bay

So they dare not stay

I want them to be gone

They do not belong

To hide behind my door

Or to sit on my floor

My room is not for you

Go on, off with you.

But they look so sad

Maybe they are not that bad

I will let them stay

Let them stay a day

Come from behind the door

You, the one, on the floor

And you, Oh! Filthy one

My sorrows and I are one

I sometimes love you still (Kashif Nasir)

Although I don’t hate you,

I sometimes love you still

When the night lies heavily on me

And everything seems uphill.

On such a night, I really wish

That you were still here

That you still talked to me

And showed me that you cared

The Demon A poem by Kashif Nasir

The demon in the night
Keeps me up all night
It writes the words I do not know
And says the thing I cannot so

It writes the poems
And makes the art
And when the morning comes
It departs

He is the one who has the urge
To paint the canvas with his words
I think he is lonely too
Where he goes in the day I do not know

I must do, I must do his will
To write the words and stay still
And when he has done his part
He will leave me and depart

And in the morning people will praise
The work I did with demon’s grace
This lonely demon has no soul
It wants my heart, it wants me whole

It just wants to consume my life
So I can just sit there and type
I want to quit I want to go
I have done enough
I know, I know

This demon is really strange
He is sick, he is deranged
He just wants me to write a verse
And then he says he will free me from this curse

The curse is that I must write and write
And writing not
Find no respite

I am tired of this lonely curse
I am tired of this craft of verse

Life does frighten me by Kashif Nasir

Life does frighten me

Life does frighten me
It frightens me to death
When I am alone in the night
Lying in my bed

I hear the voices calling
Voices in my head
They say mean things to me
The things I never said.

'I saw you in the winter rain' a poem by Kashif Nasir

I saw you in the winter rain

“I saw you in the winter rain” is a poem by writer and poet Kashif Nasir. The poems deal with the themes of loneliness and sorrow. The Poet envisions his protagonist walking through the rain. The poet makes observations about his hero’s physical and mental decay.

The Poet sees that his hero is ‘drenched in sorrow and dressed in pain’. A very sharp choice of words leaves little to the imagination about how the poet thinks his hero feels.

The poet then makes observations on his hero’s clothing. For example, ‘tattered coat’ may be a connection to the hero’s physical health or his dissatisfaction with his appearance.

In the third stanza, the poet uses the term ‘previous wars’ Here we see the poet sees life as a sort of war. And according to him, his hero has faced many wars. Consequently, the hero is wounded and his clothes are tattered.

There are two times when the word ‘Blue’ shows up in the poem. It may be because of rhyme but universally the color Blue is associated with sadness and it is the theme of sadness that overpowers this brilliant piece of literature.

It can make anyone feel sad. And sympathize with the hero’s plight. And that’s powerful writing.

In the fifth stanza, the poet reveals that the rain is imaginary. In fact, he is talking about ‘hailing stones and pouring pain’, which might be a connection to the harsh realities of life.

In the sixth stanza, the poet somehow manages to fit in the term ‘Damaged brain’ which of course is a direct reference to his hero’s mental and emotional state which has been greatly disturbed.

In the seventh stanza poet tries to save his hero but alas he fails.

The eighth stanza is unique. It talks about the hero’s courage to withstand the harsh realities of life. Because according to the poet the hardships or rain are coming down in sheets. And still, the hero is standing. It may be considered stubbornness at this point but we see that our hero is still standing.

The closing stanza by far the most commented upon stanza. In which the poet reveals that the whole time he was talking about himself but in the third person.

I saw you in the winter rain

I saw you in the winter rain
You were drenched in sorrow
And dressed in pain

A tattered coat you were wearing too
It was brown and purple
And pink and blue

Your shoes showed scars of previous wars
And the battered tie told
How you came so far

Your shirt was torn in places too
It showed your wounds
red and blue

Then I saw, it wasn’t rain
It was hailing stones
It was pouring pain

I saw how cold were your hands
I got a peak
At your damaged brain

I wanted to drag you under the shade
To pause the scene
Before you fade

And the rain came pouring down in sheets
And still you stood
In the middle of the streets

Then you saw me
And I thought you knew
That you were me
And I was you.

Another Doubt...

I am half and half
Up In the clouds,
My nights lonely
Days full of doubts,

Along you came
To light up my days,
I laughed in the nights
I laughed in the days

But then you got
Lost in the crowd
And I was left
With another doubt.

That Evening Twilight

Its not that world is mean to you,
It’s not that world is bad,
It’s just that you my dear friend,
Keep finding reasons to be sad.

I know that you have been lonely,
And solitude is your friend,
But you have even barely started,
You have barely reached the end,

We don’t know where you are going
Or where you are coming from
We only wish for a little while,
You may sit; or lie down,

It’s not that they don’t love you ever,
It’s not that they don’t care,
It’s only that you live in your head,
You live with things not fair,

Yet everyday the sun is shining,
And the day is bright,
It’s okay give yourself some time.
Yourself some respite,

And one day
You may even see,
That brightness,
That evening twilight.

Dreamers (Kashif Nasir)

I hear people’s dreams you know,
I know they won’t come true,
The things they want; they truly want,
The one, they want to woe.

Oh! cunning love, Oh, harsh world,
Why are you even here ?
Why do you even want us here ?
When you don’t even care ?

I want to cry; I want to weep,
For all the dreamers there,
For all those say, “I want to be”
For all those say, “I dare”

The world is a voidless, void,
Full of cold and mirth,
You cannot find one happy man,
On my planet earth,

So give up your dreams
And die while you can
Before it’s too late,
Cause there is not a single soul
Who can fight the goddess fate.

Oh! World so cold so cold and grey (Kashif Nasir)

When I am troubled inside
And the world is cold.
When everything is nothing,
And I am not feeling bold.

When nothing matters anymore
And everything is dead.
When eyes are made of tears;
And hearts of lead.

When you have so many
And you are still alone,
When everything is distant,
Like the horizon.

When you want to dream,
Your life away.
And even in your dream,
The things are gray.

It’s not ok, it’s not ok
The world so cold
So cold
And gray.

I want you to, laugh with me tonight
I want to fight, the grey inside
I want you to, make it bright
Please make it right, oh make it bright

Oh lonely night,
Oh world so cold
So cold and grey.
it’s not ok, its not ok.
